The Scottish contribution to this year's National Archives Awareness Campaign, The Edible Archive, has been featured in Sunday's (21 August 2011) Scotland on Sunday newspaper.
The project, which is being run by the Scottish Council on Archives, has already proved hugely popular. We have received over 100 recipes from approximately 30 different archival collections and individuals from all over Scotland. These range from 18th Century instructions on how to cook a turtle (North Lanarkshire Council Archives), to a recipe for Pilau Rice from the Royal Bank of Scotland Group Archives.
If you have an interesting story, or family favourite recipe, that you would like to share then please get involved and contact the SCA:
Email - firstname.lastname@example.org
Phone - 0131 535 1362
Address - SCA, General Register House (Room 21), 2 Princes Street, Edinburgh EH1 3YY.
Likewise, if there are any chefs out there who would like to have a go at recreating some of these fantastic historic recipes, or indeed any suppliers or growers of delicious Scottish produce who would like to be featured at The Edible Archive Feast in November (more details to be announced shortly) - please do not hesitate to get in touch.
